According to the police, around 72 were injured and 9 dead in Tuesday 24th January bomb blast in Iraq. As many as 4 car bombs, 1 roadside bomb explode in mainly Shiite neighborhoods of Baghdad.

Police told that Sadr city (Eastern Baghdad) was the place where initial 2 attacks were made. Nearby to horde of laborers, standing there to be hired for daily errands, a car bomb blew off in al- Mudhafar Square.

And, just few minutes went by and a 2nd car bomb detonanted, this time nearby completely packed with fuel station.

Residing place of 1.5 million inhabitants, Sadr city became deathbed for 7 people and 35 were injured. 3rd bomb detonated nearby al-Hurriya (Southwestern Baghdad) and killed 1 person and injured 13.

Adjacent to Adan Square (Northwestern Baghdad), 4th roadside explosion injured 6 people.

According to the police officials, the 5th bomb exploded in an elementary school of northwestern Baghdad in Shulaa area. 18 people including certain students and 2 were injured in this 5th explosion.

As the year has started, various incidents have killed around 200 people. Shiites indicating Arabeen were the people mostly killed. It is Shiite pilgrimage, done after end of 40 days to remember Imam Hussain of 7th century. He was assassinated in a war.

Are the security forces of Iraq capable of safeguarding the country from attacks? This is fast becoming a cause of concern among the country’s masses. It is more becoming focus as US has pulled back its troop at last year (2011) end.

In spite of all these, the citizens of Iraq are apprehensive of the ongoing political crisis in their country.

The spokesperson of the government told that the Ministers’ Council in Iraq decided to impose ban on the members staying away from the Cabinet meetings. This meeting was held in the week before.
