Angstro The Social Networking Startup Acquired By Google
SAN FRANCISCO: A spokesman for the leading Web search provider said that, Google Inc has purchased Angstro, a company that sorts news and knowledge athwart social networks including Facebook. According to the company’s website, the Palo Alto-based Angstro Company has created applications combine caller ID with LinkedIn profiles, to find images on Facebook and some other tools for Twitter.
The co-founder of Angstro, Rohit Khare said in a blog post last week that, “The struggle for open, interoperable social networks is still only just beginning.”
The search engine giant Google did not disclose the terms of the agreement. In the United States Google runs the top search engine with more than two third of market. Because of increasing competition in social networks, the Angstro deal underscores the importance to Google Internet search arena which it governs.
Google introduced a website last week for those users who wants to shift through news, comments and other information over the internet in real time. The website will allow people to follow conversations on social network hubs including Twitter and Facebook in one place. To provide real time search results Microsoft also announced partnership with Facebook and Twitter.
Google acquires this year small startups including Plink, the company which makes visual search engine and video broadcaster Episodic.
