AU Condemns Drop of French Arms

Tripoli : The chief of African union Jean ping said the decision of France to air drop the weapons to the rebels of Libya can be dangerous and can put entire zone to a risk. There is a confirmation report from France about dropping arms to tribal fighters of Berber. The location is near south west mountains of Tripoli. As per some analysts, this move is contradictory to the security council embargo.
Mr ping said, “There are several problems”
He further said, “The risk of civil war, risk of partition of the country, the risk of Somaliasation of the country, risk of having arms everywhere… with terrorism.”
“These risks will concern the neighbouring countries.”
The report emerged out of media.
As per the reports, the weapons included anti tank missiles and rocket launchers. The French officials confirmed only light weapons were dropped to rebels. The decision was taken in a meet between Chief of Staff of the Libyan rebels, Gen Abdelfatah Younis and French president Nicolas Sarkozy.
Recently, the rebels have achieved remarkable gains and they will advance Tripoli from other side of Nafusa mountains. China and Russia have criticized the campaign of NATO.
