Australia Pays For Damages At CWG

Damages-CWGThe Australian mission paid Rs 10000 for the damages which few athletes of its contingent created at the Commonwealth Games Village in Delhi. These athletes threw a washing machine down from an apartment of Games Village situated at seventh floor.

The vandalism could have proved serious had the washing machine hit somebody on the ground floor. This act of these athletes was condemned but no official complaint was made. The amount which Australia has paid covers the price of washing machine. No fine has been imposed on them.

There were two more incidents where Australian athletes behaved in an unruly way in the premises of dining area. Their managers took them away in one of these incidents.

The CWG authorities did not lodge any complaint regarding the matter. The Aussie officials were of the opinion that the washing machine incident was not due to the loss of their Test team in cricket at the hands of India.
