Auto Show Los Angeles: Variety Of Electric Vehicles

LOS ANGELES – The ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show is exhibiting variety of electric, hybrid, hydrogen vehicles that boasts of more energy efficiency, which consume less gas and produce less or zero emission. The show demonstrated about 900 vehicles, and it was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from Nov. 19 to 28. Here style was given importance but more emphasis was on fuel economy.

Ford, one of the leading auto manufacturers in the United States, occupies one third of the West Hall at the convention center at Los Angeles. Ford Motor Co.’s president, Mark Fields said that Ford is offering 13 vehicles which will lead their segment in fuel economy. For million of consumers Ford promises to make fuel economy affordable.

Mercedes first-ever zero-emission automobile, the F-Cell model was displayed by Mercedes-Benz and it is powered by Fuel Cell technology. Here fuel is hydrogen and for energy storage there is lithium-ion battery. Another revolutionary zero-emission electric vehicle was from the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, it uses lithium-ion batteries and advanced motor technology along with efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is smaller than a gasoline engine.

Since now there is a mass production of electric vehicle, and the consumer has got the option to avail a lot of benefits from it, as Los Angeles is one of biggest markets for electric cars. The first to arrive on the Los Angeles roads are Chevrolet Volt and Nissan LEAF.

Stefan Jacoby, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Car Corp said before the show, “California is the place where many automotive trends are born”. “And the Los Angeles Auto Show is an important indicator of the direction the U.S. market is headed”. From the Ford Motor Co, Mark Fields said that for car culture, California is the birth place.

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, futuristic concept vehicle continue to be popular. This year it features KIA’s POP electric concept with spaceship-like cabin, Jaguar’s C-X75 electric super car and Mazda’s dramatic Shinari concept. Lotus has unveiled five-new concept sports cars and some other displays were from Cadillac, Subaru, Nissan and Honda.
