CEOs Express Concern Over US Economy

US-Concern

Mr. Edward R. Muller, CEO of GenOn Energy and Mr. Larry Zimpleman, President and CEO of Principal Financial Group have expressed their concerns over the condition of the US economy. They also have suggested the probable ways to come out of it. The US economy, as well as the global economy with it, is in serious crisis and no signs of its recovery are seen. There is no increase in the demands in the private sector.

The two top figures have opined in the Wall Street Journal that the economy needs a number of reforms to boost up the atmosphere. They seem to be more concerned about the encouragement to the new businesses. The overall tone of their suggestions is in favor of making the environment for the businesses conducive.

They appreciate the proven inability of macroeconomic tools to handle the situation. They cited the recent political crisis over lifting of the debt ceiling and opined that they don’t see any hope of stimuli to the businesses.

They have advocated allowing immigrant entrepreneurs to do in the US if they hire American workers. They have asked for capital gain tax relief for the early stages of investments. They have even advocated the freedom of licensing to the academicians at Universities to commercialize their ideas. They underline the fact that the US economy is run by the new businesses that have new ideas.
