Chile Still At High Risk of Earthquake

The earthquake which had pummeled Chile last February did not go the way researchers thought it might do. It was expected to relieve the seismic stress in a way which scientists were predicting. It is measured of 8.8 on rictor scale.
This is the latest finding of a study conducted at National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Rome. The danger of earthquakes remain high in this country.
The seismic stress still exists as despite of the plates moving to a high limit where stress had been developing the longest, the major slip took place where an earthquake had already relieved pressure almost eight decades ago. The study has been conducted under the leadership of gelologist Stefano Lorito. The study was published in the January 30 issue of the journal Nature Geoscience.
