China Wants officials of US for Meeting Dalai Lama

Beijing : Foreign ministry of China warned officials of US not to meet spiritual leader in exile Dalai Lama. It hoped Washington to deal with issues related to Tibet in an appropriate manner. China says Dalai Lama supports violence in order to establish an independent Tibet. Dalai Lama will give a public talk in Washington on Saturday.

The state department of US said he met state under secretary for global affairs and democracy Maria atero but the meetings at higher levels have to be decided yet.

Hong said, “We oppose the underhand visits of the Dalai Lama which he uses to engage in activities to split the motherland.”

He added, “At the same time, we also oppose any foreign government or politicians supporting or abetting in such activities by the Dalai Lama.”

He further said, “We hope that the United States strictly abide by its promises on the Tibet issue and … cautiously and appropriately deal with relevant issues.”

Last year, Dalai Lama met president of US barrack Obama and this move was strongly denounced by Beijing.

“President Obama has an opportunity to make a strong statement about what we stand for by meeting with the Dalai Lama during his current visit, and I urge him to take it,” a strong communist government critic ros Lehtinen.

State department spokesperson Victoria said, “”The Chinese always make their views known when the Dalai Lama is in Washington.”
