Curfew In The Old City Of Kashmir, Eight Injured In Clashes
In an attempt to disperse the protestors, 8 people including two constables were injured. Curfew was induced in Old City areas of Srinagar to thwart a separatist march to the Eidgah graveyard here.
Kashmir valley has been in a grip of protests, strikes and curfew since June when a 17-year-old boy was killed by a tear smoke shell allegedly fired by police at Rajouri Kadal area of the city.
A spokesman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference Shahidul Islam said Mirwaiz Umar has been put under house arrest since last night to prevent him from leading the march to UNMO office tomorrow. Several senior leaders of the amalgam have been arrested as a precautionary measure.
