Diet Drinks Can Make You Fatter

Most of the people who are health conscious go for diet drinks, but a new study reveals that people guzzling these drinks tends to get fatter compared those taking normal drinks.
The 10 years long study of 500 men and women reveals that people who had been drinking low calorie soft drinks have bulging waistlines even when they consumed only a small quantity.
The researchers of the Texas University reveals, those people who drank two or more diet drinks a day found that they put on 5 times more weight compared to those who never downed these stuffs.
According to Prof Helen Hazuda, who led the study, a sweet tooth can be foster by these diet soda and artificial sweeteners. They distort the appetite and sometimes even damage the brain cells, thus treating them as healthy drinks can be an ill advice. She also said that these drinks can be free of calories but they are not free of consequences.
For a study the researchers on an average of nine and half years tracked 474 adults to watch their health and habits. After that they compared the waistline of those people who drank diet drinks with those having regular one.
It was noticed people who went for diet drinks had their waist expanded 70 percent faster. But the frequent users who had two or more cans per day saw 500 percent greater girth increase.
As per Hazuda “These results suggest that amidst the national drive to reduce chronic consumption of sugar-sweetened drinks, policies that would promote consumption of diet soft drinks may have unintended deleterious side-effects.”
