Now a digital ant, to detect viruses in the computer system. It is true and scientists are working on technology to spot viruses that try to wreck chaos in very complex Internet system. It takes power grid, transmissions lines and even a microwave in their account.

The entire brain behind the principle is of Errin Fulp, a computer science professor at Wake Forest University. He is training a group of ‘digital ants’. The ant will move into the power grid and will seek different viruses out of the system which are damaging the network.

If the research turn successful and this digital ant turn successful in protecting the power grid than obviously application will find wide range of usages in protecting thing and data linked to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition i.e. SCADA networks.

SCADA is a computer systems that manage everything from water and sewer management systems to mass transfer systems and manufacturing systems.

According to Erinn Fulp, the digital ant’s technology could alter cyber security positively as it acclimatizes quickly to changing threats. It will leave the traditional approaches of dealing with security as digital ants are not static but it just roams around like ants.

The digital ants by moving across the network checks out the threats like different computer worms, automatic programs that steal computer information and adds to the illegal uses of any system.

The technology works like this, as the group of ant detect the threat it just call the entire army to get united at the location. This initiates the human operator to investigate the issue and check for the solution.

Errin Fulp while launching the antivirus technology said that “The idea is to organize thousands of different types of digital ants, each looking for proof of a threat,” as they move further around the network, they put down digital trails use to guide other ants”.

When these ants find the evidence of virus, it leaves the stronger scent. The stronger scent attracts more ants and thus the spot will generate the attention of manual user.
