Driving License For Women ‘Wanted’ By Interpol
In the rarest of rare incident, a woman from Mumbai and ‘wanted’ by Interpol was issued driving license by the transport authorities of Patiala. Bhavna Doshi, the women in question, used fake documents to get the license.
A person who wanted to reveal the corrupt ways adopted by the transport office, made photos of this wanted woman by Interpol from the colored printout by the international police organization.
This was the notice issued by it on the website of CBI. The man, a resident of Samana, gave these photographs to an agent employed in DTO (District Transport Office).
This Samana resident made photographs to help Bhavna, a wanted criminal, get learner’s license. After creating all the documents, he went up to certain agents working in the transport office and projected this wanted criminal as NRI, in need of a driving license.
He told the news reporting agency, “I said she (Bhavna) would be coming from abroad in some days and that I don’t have any documents (of her).
The agent did not only prepare all the fake documents, but also got all the other things done within 10 days at the price of Rs 800.” He added that the agent projected Bhavna as a person residing in Indrapura, Samana area and gave her a new name- Bimal Doshi.
Learner’s driving license issued is legal from 5th October 2011 to 4th April 2012. In their notice, the Interpol mentions Bhavna to be a residing person of Mumbai on whom number of cases is issued in Maharashtra.
According to the notice released on 19th July 2011, Bhavna is ‘wanted’ due to her illegal association in forgery, fraud crime and counterfeit. Interpol is on a tracing drive for her since the month of August in 2008.
Dr. Rishipal Singh, DTO Patiala, refused to comment on the case saying he is back in office, few days ago. And, said that he has no information on the case. He told, “But, if anyone lodges a complaint with us, we would conduct investigations and take strict action”.
As per the rules, a driving license is issued only after meeting the person who has applied to get the driving license made and taking his driving test. And, this is compulsory. But nothing like this was conducted in this case.
