US Is Expected To Drive Indian Pharma Soon: Fitch

According to the global rating agency Fitch Ratings, United States market would ensure stable outlook for Generics Pharmaceuticals in India during this year. This owes to the continued demand for generics from the United States market.
However, the liquidity will remain a concern for the sector. It would be mainly because of the working capital requirements. This was added by the agency.
“The outlook for Indian generic pharmaceuticals for 2011 is stable. Earnings and profitability of Indian generic-based pharmaceutical companies will benefit from continued demand for generics,” the ratings agency said. “Fitch expects the United States market to be the main growth driver for the demand of generics,” it added.
According to this agency the Indian pharmaceutical companies expect about USD 96 billion worth drugs to go off patent in the United States in 2011-2013.
However, the agency also added that despite the demand coming from European markets, “stiff pricing environment will limit exposure”.
