Fernando Alonso Wins The British Grand Prix

Fernando-Alonso

Fernando Alonso won the British Grand Prix held on Sunday. He believes this victory has given the required motivation to the Ferrari team after a disappointing first half season.

The Spaniard got the first win for the Italian team after the Korean Grand Prix held last year. He had a controlled driving besides some luck to win this race. He exploited the revised technical regulations and scored a remarkable victory.

Alonso was very pleased with his performance as he did not expect his car to do so well on Silverstone track.

The 29 years old driver remarked, “Obviously it is a huge boost for us. We were confident of being quick here at Silverstone.”

He added, “No doubts it was a race that had one red cross because it was not an easy grand prix for us; the characteristics of the corners, and the layout were never our strongest points.”

He also said, “We knew that Silverstone, like Barcelona, was difficult for us, so winning here is a good motivation for everyone and gives us confidence approaching the next few races.”

Despite this victory Alonso is 92 points behind defending champion Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. Due to this the Spanish driver did not get carried away by the win and wants to take each race at a time.

Alonso commented, “There are not championship thoughts at the moment because the gap is massive to Seb. We need to enjoy every weekend, and there is no time to think about anything.”

Fellow team-mate of Ferrari Brazil’s Felipe Massa finished fifth after a thrilling battle in the final lap for the fourth place against McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton.
