Fire in Kolkata

Kolkata woke up with fire tragedy in a private hospital near Dhakuria, early this Friday. Till now the death toll has increased to 40 and have been confirmed that they died due to suffocation. The victims were mainly the patients of the hospital. It is said that the hospital authorities fled from the spot.

Angry and upset relatives of the dead vandalized hospital reception and demanded an enquiry. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rushed to the spot and has ordered a probe into the situation.

It took nearly 5 hours for the Fire Department to control the fire. It is believed that people are still trapped inside the building. West Bengal Health Minister Sudip Bandhyopadhyay said that the death toll might go up.

It was strange for relatives to believe that in such a condition not one casualty was reported from the side of hospital staff. They had fled from the situation and left the patients to choke to death. Top official of hospital management have already gone underground.

Since the firefighting equipment in the hospital were not in place so the rescue operations took more time On the basis of the FIR lodged by Fire department, the police had already lodged a criminal case.

Strict action will be taken against them. Miss Banerjee has announced a compensation of 3 lakh to the families of the victim that are not quite well-off.

This is an example of utter negligence!
