FORD Proves Itself Yet Again With 2011 Award For Best New Technology

The Canadian International Auto Show was an amalgamation of new technology and innovations from across the globe. The Automobile Journalist Association of Canada awarded Ford’s rear inflatable seat belts as the Best New technology.

Though introduced in January 2011the AJAC award to Ford was for long association Ford has in automotive technology.

Ford’s latest innovation functions like a normal seatbelt in everyday use. Ford’s unique innovation of inflatable seat belts reduces pressure on the chest while helping to control the head and neck motion. The innovation does not use heat generating chemicals to induce gases that help in expansion.

Ford’s vehicle crash-sensing system determines the time of inflatable belt deployment and once deployed it spreads the impact forces more than five times than in case of conventional seat belts. The reduced pressure on chest and head and neck control on impact is a unique feature introduced by Ford to the automotive world.
