General Motors Co. Is Recalling 97,843 Crossover Vehicles

CHICAGO: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Friday, General Motors Co. is recalling 97,843 crossover vehicles to fix seat belts that could fail in a crash.

The recall consists of 2011 model year version of the GMC Terrain, Chevrolet Equinox and Cadillac SRX. By increasing the risk of inquiry by failing to restraints the occupants, the automaker said that the safety belt buckle anchor for the driver and front passenger seats may fracture and separate in a crash.

The spokesman of the GM asserted that they found the problem during testing in September and didn’t receive any reports of injury or crash due to this problem. The dealer will fix the seat belt buckle free of charge, and the recall is expected to begin in mid-January.
