The application for the smartphones and the tablets (running on either the android or iOS) allows you to subscribe for various publications and trends (these are the top 5 stories for any given topic).

To make use of the service, the users need to download the free app and then log in using their Google account. The home page showcases a photo feed which has stories related to your subscriptions. Apart from this it gives you a list of subscriptions like Forbes and many others.

It also has a tab for the trending options. Once you choose the subscription, the stories will be presented in a table of contents style. Taking in view the way it changes pages, it looks somewhat similar to a magazine.

The good thing in Google currents is the simple scroll down feature. Though, the more number of features you add, the more you will be required to scroll down. Also it is believed that the best part of the application still remains Trending.

It allows not only allows you to have a look at the top 5 news of any section but allows you to access the story from various sources. You can also find the option of content that is user generated.

Though, a major drawback for Google currents could be that it is not integrated with the social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. It is to be noted here that it is integrated with Google+.
