According to federal appeals court, Government can continue financing of embryonic stem cells. For Obama administration, it is an important victory.

The ruling overturned a decision by lower court that would have ended the government financing for stem cells. The ruling was appreciated was White House.

According to researchers, stem cells can help in treating various diseases including spinal cord injuries, and Parkinson’s disease. Opponents show their unhappiness by stating that the process of obtaining stem cells can damage embryos.

According to 1996 law, taxpayer’s money can’t be used in such work that can damage or harm a human embryo. But President Barrack Obama had ended this restriction in 2009 asking NIH to decide the stem cells in which taxpayer money could be utilized.

A ban was put by U.S. district Judge Royce Lamberth against the funding of such type of research. But because of appeal this decision was on hold.
