Healthy Eating Tips For Expecting Moms

Becoming a mother is a wonderful gift of God to women. It is essential for women to take extra care while they are expecting to be a mother of a child. They should vow to take special attention of their meal. The food they want to eat should rich in protein, calcium, iron and good saturated fat in order to find the good growth of baby.

Gynecologists’ suggest calcium and protein rich foods. They advice cut out the caffeine and junk food while getting pregnant. For healthy growth of baby, expecting moms should choose foods that perform double duty like nutrient-dense food items. Yoghurt, chicken, beef, eggs and dairy products are considered rich in protein.

Avoid eating items that have fewer calories. Sweet treats are considered good during pregnancy.

Eat moderate amount of food. Avoid overeating. Excess weight gain can induce hypertension and gestational diabetes.

Don’t forget to take vitamin supplements.

Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water to prevent yourself from dehydration. It will also prevent constipation and you feel good.

Do avoid risky food items such as high-mercury fish (shark, tilefish and swordfish) and unpasteurized soft cheeses.
