Around Half Of HIV Patients In Asia Live In India

India, the country in southern Asian continent, houses around 50 percent of people. In that sense, it is a step forward to China. These reports are as per data released by UNICEF in accordance with WHO and other premier agencies.

There are around 48 lakhs people residing in Asia and around 50 percent of them are in India. Numbers of women who are affected by this monster have also risen from 2 percent in 2005 to around 23 percent in 2010.

Though the stigma of this epidemic is quite greater, stability is being experienced among female sex workers. Compared to that, risk among men seems to be growing.

In India also, Southern India is more affected with high prevalence rate as much as 18 percent. In Mumbai and Thane prevalence rate is around 4.6 percent.

This disease is a monster with great stigma associated. But here comes the role of Governments, NGO’s and other social organizations. Apart from it, more awareness is required among people so that the disease can be controlled.

In short, efforts from all sides including medical professionals, health workers are required for betterment.
