Hyundai Reveals First Electric Car – Blueon

Seoul: South Korea’s No 1 car manufacturer Hyundai Motor revealed its foremost ‘Pure Electric’ car and targeted beginning mass production of the car in 2012. The Electric car named ‘BlueOn’ which based on the company’s i10 hatchback will be equipped with batteries made by SK energy which produce power of 16.4 kilowatts per hour, said the firm without any declaration of price for the car.
Hyundai said in the statement that the car can run up to 140 kilometers in a dingle full charge and can go up to 130 km/h max speed. In this year the Hyundai will manufacture few number of the electric car to government agencies and next before beginning sales to general public in 2012, so the firm decides to make 2500 units.
A spokesperson said that, “We are taking a baby step. There is no infrastructure such as charging stations in Korea and many other countries.”
The government said that the firm plans to replace 20 % passenger vehicles of the country with electric car by 2020 with a target to escort the rising market.
