Mohali: India defeated Pakistan on Wednesday to reach the final of the World Cup 2011. India now face Sri Lanka on Saturday in the deciding match of this tournament.

India batted first and scored 260 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 50overs. The anchor of the Indian innings was Sachin Tendulkar who scored 85 runs. He was chosen man of the match for this effort. In reply Pakistan team was all out for 231 runs in 49.5overs. India won this match by 29 runs.

Indian fans were delighted by this performance and engaged in wild celebration. Both the countries Prime Ministers watched this match and top dignitaries accompanied them. When the last wicket of Pakistan team fell, the crowd erupted at PCA stadium.

India continued their unbeaten streak in the World Cup matches against Pakistan. Sonia Gandhi, UPA chairperson, and Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary, were present at the stadium and were seen delighted after the win.
