Global steel major arcelor mittal will manufacture three small plants each of 3 million tonnes capacity. The three plants will be manufactured in Jharkhand, Orissa and Karnataka. Steps will be taken as per the investment proposals of the company with the government.

The reports said

The company remains committed to a combined capacity of the steel plants of 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), he said without giving a timeline for them.

Besides, there are major proposals by leading companies like Tata Steel, SAIL, NMDC, POSCO, Essar Steel and Jindal Steel to take the domestic steel sector capacity to about 172 MTPA through expansion as well as new plants.
