India Lose Despite Yusuf Pathan’s Heroics

Yusuf Pathan played a magnificent innings but that was not enough for India to win the final ODI against South Africa. India lost the final match at Centurion on Sunday by 33 runs. South Africa won the five match series 3-2.

South Africa batted first and scored 250/9 in 46overs. India had to score 268 runs for victory in 46overs on the basis of D/L method as rain affected the match. Indian top order collapsed and India were all out for 234 runs in 40.2overs.

At one stage India were in a hopeless situation of 98 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. But, Pathan played an unbelievable innings and caused panic in the opponent camp. He scored 105 runs in only 70 balls when the chips were down. He hit 8 sixes and 8 fours in the amazing innings he played.

Pathan was well supported by Zaheer Khan for the ninth wicket partnership. Zaheer contributed by scoring 24 runs. Morne Morkel took 4 wickets for 52 runs including the wicket of Pathan.

Earlier in the day, Hashim Amla scored a century for the winning team. The South African opener was also declared man of the match.
