Indians Asked To Be Evacuated As Chaos Deepens In Egypt

Cairo: 300 Indians mostly women and children are returning to India due to spiraling situation in Egypt. Chartered Air India flight is scheduled to carry all these passengers which will land in Mumbai on wee hours of Monday morning.
According to Mr. Abhay Pathak, the regional manager of Air India, West Asia, Gulf, and Africa said that, 747 Boeing aircraft with a capacity of 423 passengers was on its way to Cairo from Mumbai and is expected to land at 2005 hours local time.
He said “We have already provisioned all passengers at the Cairo airport and I am told 300-odd family members of the Indian embassy are ready to board the flight. Another 300 Tata Group workers and their family members are waiting to be evacuated.”
According to authorities more such flights can operate if the tensions continue to rise or if Indians and their properties are attacked. Foreign Affairs Minister, SM Krishna has said that, they are taking all necessary steps to bring back Indians to their homeland. Indians have been advised to avoid all non-necessary travel to Egypt.
He further added, “We are closely monitoring the situation in Egypt. It’s an internal matter of Egypt, a country with which we have cordial relations.”
