Iraq Shocked By A Wave Of Bomb Blasts

A terrifying wave of bomb blasts in the Shiite dominated areas of Baghdad Thursday shocked the Iraq. The series of bombs– in the backdrop of final batches of American troops leaving the country– is worrying the people. At least 69 people were killed in the wave.

Bomb Blasts in Iraq

The bombs seem to be a well-planned act by the Sunni militants that have links with al-Qaida. Both public places and government establishments have been targeted in the bomb attacks. The blasts have increased the difficulties for the government which is already in stress for the breaking ties between the two sects.

In this situation the Shiite prime minister is expected to consolidate its bases more among the Sunni community only to broaden the divide between the communities in the country, which is already under rampage of escalating violence by al-Qaeda elements.

A Washington bases analyst commented that it is a quick coming back of civil war for Iraq. It is sort of repetition of the situation that prevailed during the period of 2006-2007, when the country witnessed itself of being at the brink of civil war between the Shia-Sunni communities.

The instant source of these developments is the good bye by the American troops, but it is only instant. The fact is that the communal issues couldn’t be addressed all along the overwhelming and long stay of American forces in the country for years together.

The departure of the troops from the Iraqi soil has only triggered the underlying divisions to come to the surface. The coming days in the country may have frightening implications for the poor population of the country which has faced great wars and sanctions through last two decades.
