Japanese Calculated Value Of Pi To 5 Trillion Digits
A man from japan calculated the value of pi to 5 trillion digits with the help of a self made personal computer. He beat the record of an engineer of France who had achieved a feat of calculation upto 2.7 trillion digits.
Shigeru Kondo, a 55-year-old resident of Iida achieved this feat but with a price. This was indeed a mountainous task that affected his family. His wife had to pay an amount of 235 dollars for electricity in a month. His 29 year old daughter used dryer and threw a circuit breaker which threatened the work. He managed to rescue operation with ten minute power back up.
Overall he spent 1.5 million yen 17625 dollars for this calculation. He said –
“I used only 60 per cent of the computer’s total capabilities.
