Javier Hernandez laughed off the comparisons with Barcelona ace Lionel Messi. The Manchester United star is obsessive about sweating his jersey to death.

There are great expectations from Chicharito in the final of Champions League against Barcelona. The Mexican star has 20 goals to his name in this season playing for the Red Devils. Both Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi have praised him prior to the fixture.

But, when questioned whether he is hoping to match achievements of the Argentina striker, the United forward was quite modest.

Hernandez, remarked, “No. I am a player of this great team. I don’t aspire to be like Messi. I’m just a simple footballer.”

He was questioned whether his exceptional goal tally is due to his obsession for scoring and the striker gave the credit of this to his fellow team mates.

He added, “What obsesses me is sweating this shirt to death, and I will never stop running.”

He also said, “I’m not obsessed with goals. The goals are the result of the work of the whole team. The forwards only have the good fortune to score them. In a team like ours, even Edwin can claim the goals.”

Prior to the match on Saturday, many people have rated Manchester United as underdogs. Hernandez is keen to show the unpredictability of this sport. He wants to erase the memories his squad may be having of the defeat at the Rome final in 2009 against the same opponents.

He feels the Catalan giants are an extraordinary side and play eye catching and beautiful football. But he emphasized United have not reached the final level for nothing. He believes it is very difficult to predict in football and there could be very open or close games.
