Barcelona ace Lionel Messi expressed that his side has no intentions of slowing down and is aiming for more titles in the future.

The Argentine was chosen the Man of the Match for the final of Champions League. He scored the second goal of his team that helped Barca restore their lead.

Messi remarked, “This is a game to remember. What this team does is tremendous and we are still not conscious of what we are achieving. We want to keep winning things.”

The ace striker has now three Champions League titles with Barcelona. Two of these have come under Pep Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola feels Lionel Messi is the best soccer player in the world. The Argentina ace has 53 goals to his name in this season.

Guardiola remarked, “Lionel is the best player I’ve ever seen, probably the best ever. He made the difference.”

He added, “Messi is unique, a one-off. I just hope he doesn’t get fed up. When he doesn’t play well it is because something is wrong with his environment. Let’s hope he can continue playing well.”

Guardiola dismissed the thoughts that this win against United was his last one as the manager of Barca.

He admitted that for playing this level of football the team needs such players. He pointed at other clubs maybe he would not find these players. He is privileged to get these players in his camp.

He also said, “I will say it again, I have another year on my contract and I intend to work it out. You have girls falling at your feet when you win but that can change overnight.”

He is satisfied with his role of coach at Nou Camp but feels it is not very easy.

Messi equalled the record of Ruud van Nistelrooy for scoring 12 goals in the Champions League in one season.

The second goal he scored during 54th minute at Wembley final increased his tally of goals to 12 in this campaign. He picked a pass and galloped forward to unleash a superb shot from about 20 yards out using his left into the goal.

Van Nistelrooy had also scored 12 goals for the Manchester United team in 2002-03 season. The Netherlands striker was the top scorer in that season. He also had 10 goals during 2001-02 and 8 goals during 2004-05.

Messi’s 53rd goal from all competitions in the final leveled him with Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid. Both of them have this number of goals in this term. This is the highest tally in Europe during 2010-11 campaign. Messi has 37 goals to his name in Champions League from all seasons.
