Lionel Messi Insists Criticism Would Not Stop Him From Playing For Argentina

Argentina striker Lionel Messi insisted he is not thinking to retire from international soccer despite criticism coming from fans and media.

On Thursday, the Argentine Football Association president, Julio Grondona, expressed that Messi can stop playing for Argentina if the negative comments about him do not end.

The ace player guaranteed he would not quit the Argentina team, but he confessed such comments made an effect on the side.

Messi remarked, “Although I get criticised, I will always come to the national team. I come because I always want to play and I will not change because of what the press say.”

He added, “I have never cared about what the press say and I will not start now. The only thing I care about is what the fans say… no-one likes to be insulted.”

He also said, “I come to the national team because I feel it is part of me, and I try to stay distant from all this. This is the first time I have been through something like this with the media, but I am not going to change.”

When questioned about Brazil’s Neymar, Messi pointed the Santos striker is a very good football player and it will be great if the youngster moves to Spain.
