Soccer legend Diego Maradona believes Barcelona’s ace player Lionel Messi deserves to win the European Golden Boot and can win many more during his career.

Argentina star Messi will receive the honor on Thursday. He will receive this award because he scored the most number of goals in the domestic league in Europe in the last season. The Barcelona striker scored 34 goals for his club in only 35 matches he played. Luis Suarez who plays as a striker for Ajax netted 35 goals in the league for his side. Messi ranked higher than him because Primera Liga has more importance over Eredivisie.

Maradona remarked, “Messi has earned the Golden Boot and it’s well deserved and hopefully he will win many more.”

Didier Drogba from Chelsea which won the Premier League and Antonio di Natale from Udinese were jointly declared second although both of them scored six goals less compared to the Ajax captain. Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid also ranked higher than the Uruguay striker when the final list was announced.
