Morning Heart Attacks Are More Severe Than Later

Research shows morning heart attacks are far more dangerous than occurring and any other time of day. Patients who are struck down between 6am and midday suffer fifth more damage to their heart in comparison to others getting stroke later on.
According to scientists this phenomenon could be due to the changes that naturally occur in the body’s hormone levels, blood pressure and metabolism rate when a person wakes up. It is well known that heart attack mostly happens in the morning than other times of the day. Scientists at the National Centre of Cardiovascular Research in Madrid Spain studied 811 patients with heart attack between 2003 and 2009. All of them suffered a heart attack known as ST segment elevation myocardial infarction. It is caused by long time blocked blood supply.
The severity of attack was judged by the researchers by measuring the level of enzyme creatine kinase and troponin-I. This is because if the level of this enzyme if higher it means damaged caused to the heart muscles is more. And they found in morning attacks the heart was damaged 21 percent more than in later hours of day.
