Mozilla And Google To Collaborate Once Again
Mozilla and Google have extended there long term relationship by signing a revenue agreement. The agreement will result in collaboration for at least another three years.

Though the contract’s effect will be visible only till 2013 when Mozilla will release its revenue statistics for the year 2012.
The deal will make sure that Mozilla offers Google as the default search engine. Though the deal between the two companies expired in the last month but Mozilla continued to display Google as the default search engine for their browser web page.
When asked about the present deal in comparison with the previous one a spokesperson from Mozilla refused to comment. In fact they have refused to give any details regarding the contract due to the confidentiality requirements.
But Alan Eustace, Google’s head of search has said that Mozilla is a valuable partner for them and they are looking forward to carry on with the partnership even in the future.
It is to be noted here that in the year 2010 Google’s contribution to Mozilla’s revenue was 84% of the total revenue. The same number in the years 2009 was 86%.
Questions were raised about Mozilla’s dependency on Google when the latter launched its own search engine “Google chrome ” in the year 2008 and then it went on to overshadow Mozilla by having 25.7% share of the browser market (compare to 25.2% of Mozilla’s share).
As a result of which minor steps were taken by Mozilla to wean itself from the search engine. This includes its launch of the customized edition called “Firefox with Bing” which uses Bing (Microsoft’s search engine) as the search engine.
It is to be noted that earlier Mozilla has refused to confirm the renewed contract and maintained that they are still negotiating it with Google.
