Prostate Cancer Pill Could Be Available in An Year

A prostate cancer pill that can extend life for four months is likely to be approved in Britain. The drug, Zytiga, works by blocking the source of testosterone which is responsible for growth of cancer cells.
This pill can be used by around 80 percent of patients who have strong drug-resistant prostate cancer and don’t have many options left after exhausting a series of chemotherapies and anti-hormonal therapies.
Presently, the drug is unavailable for use but licence has been applied by producers Johnson and Johnson in Europe . License can be granted by the end of this year.
It was exhibited after trial of this drug that people who took this drug with conventional treatment survived for four more months compared to people who had only taken conventional treatments.
‘This news will be incredibly important to prostate cancer patients and their families’, said Professor Johann de Bono.
