Former Race Car Champion Suffers From Incurable Disease
Larry Moyer, who is the former champion of the Automobile Racing Club of America, learned early to gun it to the finish line. It appears that the course through the turns and pit shops of life is now reaching its final laps. The champion is suffering from brain tumor. He is 59-years of age and is a resident of Brandon.
Moyer began racing at an early age of 15 years. He continued doing this for about 30 years. He had participated in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in 1998. During his racing career, he worked as a partner, owner or driver in the trucking industry for about 35 years.
Moyer got married with his wife Dawn in 1983. The couple has two children. Moyer opened Cool Ride Express in 2007. It is a flat-bed and step-deck trucking company in Tampa. He was diagnosed with brain tumor on July 31, 2009.
His wife said, I don’t know what keeps him going. It is so tough to watch him go through this. I am beside myself.” She also said, “And when our 15-year-old asks, why my dad? He’s so nice to everybody. He helps everybody. Why him?’ I say, ‘Nobody knows why things happen, or why they happen to good people.’ “Dawn said that her family lives day by day. “Larry’s sick and can’t work. It’s sad, and it’s very, very hard.”
