The first day play of the fourth and final test between India and England at Oval has been badly hampered due to heavy downpour for consecutive 4 hours. Rain has stood as savior for team India since England looked confident and was progressing with high spirit.

In spite of the overcast conditions since morning Andrew Strauss, the captain of England team, elected to bat after winning the toss. They were 75-0 when rain stopped play just after the lunch. Andrew Strauss was on 38 whereas Alastair Cook was on 34.

With leading the series by 3-0 the confident England looked to seize 4 test match series by 4-0. On the other hand, India after surrendering the series and loosing the top spot seemed to be lacking intensity and vigor.

Former England captain Andrew Flintoff opines, “This morning I watched the two sides warming up. I saw India, and they looked like they’d got their kit out of the garage! They were all in different gear. England looked really professional next to them. They just looked poles apart.”

England looks positive to whitewash the series for the first time since 1974.
