Reduce Cancer Risk by Eating Less Red Meat

The government says people should reduce consumption of red and processed meat to decrease the risk of getting cancer.

According to experts every year thousand of death due to bowel cancer could be prevented if people start cutting back on red and processed meat.

In England advisers said to the department of Health that the people would not be at risk of iron deficiency because of eating less meat. In UK bowel cancer is the third most common type of cancer and every year almost 36,000 people are diagnosed with this cancer and 16500 die.

According to studies daily consumption of 100 to 200g of red and processed meat increase the risk of bowel cancer up to 20 to 30 %. So to prevent cancer major steps should be taken.
