With unemployment reaching its peak in many decades department of labor in U.S. has published a report which suggests that the pathetic situation in job market is because candidates simply blow their job interviews.
The number of unemployed people in America could have reduced from 14.6 million to as low as 5 million if they had made a serious attempt at it. They ignored the basic methods of firm handshakes, maintaining eye contact and not fiddling with their hair and face very often.
Hilda Solis, Labor Secretary, has said that the small mistakes which the candidates make can collapse the entire job market. She suggested candidates to make their best attempt at the interview, not wear blue jeans while facing it and carry extra copies of resumes to show their preparedness.
Among strongly qualified candidates many did not carry pen and notepad with them and some were uncomfortable with topics related to sports, weather and their personal hobbies. Seth Harris, Deputy Labor Secretary, has said that about one thirds of the manufacturing positions in the country are lying vacant and auto plants all over the country are waiting for people to come and work.
President Obama has said that the government would create a program worth $ 1.2 billion to train Americans to improve their body language and making a mark in the interview.[/private]
