The Yale researchers have done break through. They have discovered a novel anti depressant that can have effect in hours rather than weeks or months as the case is for other drugs in the market.

This development is positive in the world of science and will speed up the manufacturing of easy to administer form of anti depressant katamine. Yale scientists have further said that katamine quickly improves behaviors like depression and restores the connection of brain cells that are destroyed by the chronic stress.

Ronald Duman, professor of psychiatry and pharmacology at Yale said –

“It’s like a magic drug — one dose can work rapidly and last for seven to 10 days.

The work was funded by National Institute of Mental Health, the Connecticut Mental Health Center and Yale University School of Medicine.
