RIM Assure India Of Mutual Access To Instant Message By September 1

government of IndiaThe government has called a crucial meeting later today reports CNBC – TV 18 quoting sources, on the ongoing security over Research in Motion’s (RIM) Blackberry. As it faces deadline of August 31 sources add that meeting will decide whether to allow more time to BlackBerry to comply with security needs.

After RIM assure India of mutual access to instant message by September 1 and automated access by November, however earlier India said it will allow BlackBerry’s messenger service to continue beyond an August 31 deadline. If allowing them to use the device only for calls and Internet browsing, a shutdown would affect about 1 million users in India out of a total 41 million BlackBerry users worldwide.

A computer known as Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) that is designed to secure those emails, RIM used powerful codes to scramble, or encrypt, email message as they travel between a BlackBerry devices. The only way an email could be intercepted is when it temporarily stores itself in a server in decrypted from before it gets delivered as Indian telecommunication officials said that they have been told by RIM.
