Pakistan cricket captain Salman Butt has defended the decision of his side to not use Decision Review System as the technology was not hundred percent accurate. Pakistan team is playing against England in their first test at Trent Bridge.
The touring side’s batting collapsed in their first innings on the second day of the match on Friday. At one stage they were struggling at the score of 47 runs for the loss of six wickets. At this stage Azhar Ali was caught behind wickets for 14 runs at the bowling of James Anderson.
Replays suggested that he had not made contact with the ball. DRS allow maximum two unsuccessful referrals for each team. If they make two wrong challenges they can not use DRS for rest of the innings. In this situation, Ali decided not to use the referral.
Butt was of the opinion that Hawkeye system and Hotspot device are not very accurate. Butt said that if the player has hit the ball he can not take a chance as the spectators are watching the images on big screen and it would be very embarrassing for the player. He also praised Ali for his honesty and sportsmanship.[/private]
