A new report says, due to lack of social work service in the community children as young as 13 are admitted in adult health unit, without any mental health illness. This is mostly done outside Dublin where there is lack of social awareness.

The children here easily get involved in drugs and alcohol cases. Due to inadequate place in children psychiatric unit, it ends up with the admission of children in adult health care unit.

This problem is due to lack of social work services, community care service and many other agencies which offer this service for the social welfare.

The mental health commission had introduced a code that children below 17 years of age should not be admitted in adult facilities. But still the problem is continuous.
