Similarities In Nexus One And HTC’s Droid Incredible

[private]HTC’s Droid Incredible, a smart phone which cost $163.35, is similar to Google’s Android the Nexus One, found in an analysis which conducted by iSuppli Corp.  The Droid incredible has been available for sale online from 3 August with Verizon Wireless (VZW, VOD) at the cost of $199 with a contract; it runs with Google’s Android Operating system.

On 29 July iSuppli released the analysis report and found that incredible and Nexus one is internally similar. Nexus one made by Taiwan based HTC for Google, and Google stop selling it from 21 July.

iSuppli analyst Andrew Rassweiler, who supervised the teardown says, that “There are so many commonalities between the Incredible and the Nexus One, and some of the other Android phones we’re looking at, it’s pretty clear the manufacturers are following some of the same basic design guidelines”.

Similarities in both phones are like Qualcomm (QCOM) Snapdragon wireless chip and same touch screen controller chip from Atmel (ATML), a San Jose-based chipmaker.

Rassweiler says “What we think is that there’s a reference design, which is like a basic recipe, suggesting that if you use this chip in combination with another chip, you end up with a cool smart phone”.

You can see some difference between them too like incredible runs on Verizon’s wireless network, and Nexus uses T-Mobile USA (DT). Rassweiler says that Qualcomm is a leading company which supplies chips for phones that works on CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology, that cost around $31.40 which is most expensive component used by incredible.

Verizon has said recently that orders for the Incredible will begin shipping on 3 Aug.[/private]
