Slow Improvement Recorded in the UK Rural Broadband
The process is in slower side and very less people are beneficiated from it.
Last year, George Osborn, Chancellor of Exchequer, exposed that their trial period started from the four places .i.e. Highlands and Islands, Cumbria, North Yorkshire and Herefordshire.
The Countryside Alliance exposed the report after directing requests for freedom to councils. According to the members of councils, not even a single of them have received money to set up broadband company and network from Treasury.
It creased a big distress amongst various associates of Countryside Alliance because more time has taken by them to just implement the pilot project. The difference between rural and urban sectors it too much in terms of broadband connectivity. And the people of rural region are still in worry because proper money is not utilized to fill the gap.
Alice Barnard, the Chief Executive of Countryside Alliance said “It has been over a year since these pilots were set up and the people who live in areas with no or unreliable broadband coverage haven’t seen any improvement. Unless more is done to simplify the process of acquiring and implementing rural broadband projects, the digital divide will continue to grow and the money pledged by the Coalition will remain all but worthless.”
The government is targeting to make the reputation of the UK as one of the best broadband network country in Europe. And the spokesman said that council is taking proactive steps to achieve the goal.
