Soccer Great Lothar Matthaus Is The New Coach Of Bulgaria
Germany soccer great Lothar Matthaus has a new task for him. He is newly appointed as the manager of Bulgaria team. The deal struck is for two years basis.
Bulgaria had a vacancy for the coach’s position after Stanimir Stoilov left it recently. Stoilov made his decision following Bulgaria’s poor display at the qualifiers for the Euro 2012 that also included a humiliating 4-0 loss at the hands of England.
Borislav Mihaylov who is the head of Bulgarian Football Union is happy with their decision and is positive that the new coach will get enough support. Mihaylov remarked, “It was not easy at all to find a new coach in such a short period of time and I am very glad that we managed to do it. I hope that everybody will be supporting him.”
Matthaus has the experience of coaching club teams like Partizan Belgrade, Red Bull Salzburg, Maccabi Netanya and Rapid Wien behind him. He has also been the coach of national team of Hungary earlier.
Bulgaria is placed at the bottom of the table in their Group G in the qualifiers for Euro 2012. They do not have any points after playing two matches.
