Sony To Buy Ericsson Mobile
Sony Corporation is likely to buy out Ericsson’s shares in the joint mobile venture. The move is expectedly targeted to compete with the rivals.
The move would help Sony to make better grounds against Apple and Samsung. The race is on for providing the best mobile products supporting most of the online activities.
Till now there is a 50—50 joint venture between Sony and Ericsson to make Sony- Ericsson mobiles a contender in the race. The joint venture has been ten years old and they will have to decide only in this month about the fate of this relationship.
A JPMorgan analystin Japan, Yoshiharu Izumi, estimated the deal to cost Sony 1.3 billion dollars. He appreciated the prospects of separation of the two players as positive. He judgedif they could use their games and network services in the competition they would be benefited. Even the Wall Street Journal has reported in conformity of the news, citing sources that are close to the companies.
But the Sony Corp is still silent on the issue. Spokespersons said they had a long relationship with Ericsson and would not comment on the news and talks present in the air.
