The results of this recent survey are sure to bring smiles to the tablet makers. It says that the US consumers are to buy 8 million tablets this year.

The research which was carried out by Sky, says that even this Christmas 1 in every 12 people got tablets as gift. Also it said that each and every home at present has at least 6 screens (including the phones, television and the laptops).

The study showed that at present more than almost half of the adults in UK now have smartphones and from these about two million even use it to watch TV via the various applications. Also about 13 per cent of the quizzed people admitted that they would love to watch two different programmes on different screens at the same time.

David Gibbs, Sky’s director of mobile has said that no doubt in the present times people want to have access to the content even when on a go. He added that the consumers are making the right use of the smartphone technology to stay informed and entertained apart from being in touch with everyone.

It is to be noted here that with the increasing popularity of these in the market, the competition is also growing fiercely among the makers. But this is surely going to be a win win situation for the consumers as they will have a lot of options to choose from and lot of extra benefits to avail.

According to some analysts the Apple iPads sale was cut short due to the sales of the Amazon’s Kindle fire tablets. But then this has to be, after all someone’s gain is someone’s loss.But despite everything it will be definitely interesting to see the sales touch that 8m line!
