Therapy Dogs to Keep Students Stress-Free
Tufts University in Medford (Massachusetts) is making all efforts to keep its students stress- free during exams. This is with the help of therapy dogs to play with during their important exams.
All throughout the year colleges have extended library hours and offer counseling time during the test time. But now they are adopting quirky methods to keep the students relaxed who face a tough competition apart from finishing up the semester.
This therapy includes dog visits, soothing midnight massages to laser tag. The University is making an effort to navigate those last days before students take up the finals.
According to 19- year old Tufts freshman Cole Wong, “I hope these puppies make me happy and give me a nice break between studying … just cut the studying a little bit.” She got an opportunity to play with Australian shepherd brought in by her resident director. She found her first semester challenging and left for her home town and spent weeks away from family, friends and her Chinese pet Shih Tzu. But she feared she would lose her cool during the first semester.
Earlier therapy dogs have been used to cheer the sick and the elderly. Today many colleges are adopting stress-busters and a way to engage students. This has been helpful in increasing their concentration power.
Even schools are not left behind in introducing stress-relieving programs starting from oxygen bars, late-night yoga to delivering free food. Going for programs like this allows students to keep their brains clog-free and press the reset button.
