Anna Hazare

Anna Hazare, the face behind the Lokpal movement. His crusade against corruption hit the headlines and inspired common Indian to demand Jan Lokpal Bill in which politicians would be accountable for their actions.

Mamta Banerjee

The top newsmaker of the year in Indian politics has been no doubt  “ Bengal Didi” Mamta Banerjee as she ruled out the Reds to a stupendous victory in May Assembly election 2011.

Jayalalithaa

Often described as the ‘Margaret Thatcher of Tamil Nadu’, Jayalalithaa or “ Amma” made a winning comeback with 199 seats in   Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. She surprised political pundit by forging allies with small political parties.

Mahindra Singh Dhoni

Mahindra Singh Dhoni is one person that does not have any technical elegance or panache in cricket world. But still he transcends in the heart of common man by becoming a hero. He ended India’s 28-year long wait for a World Cup and led the team to world’s No 1 status. Time magazine has already listed him in 100’s most influential people.

Osama Bin Laden

Nearly 10 years after 9/11 attacks in World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon, the world’s most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden was killed in Pakistan. This man wanted to create an ancient Muslim empire, was gunned down by US Special Forces in one of the most secret helicopter assault in Abbotabad.

Sushil Kumar

Who can ever forget the common man’s face Sushil Kumar from Motihari, Bihar. He went to oblivion fame after winning KBC show with just 13 questions. He works on contract as computer operator with a government department with a monthly wage of 6000 INR won the prize money of 5 crores.

Iron Lady of India: Irom

Very few people know about the iron lady of Manipur and her cause. She has been fasting for 11years against an apathetic government. Irom Sharmila Chanu seeks removal of Armed Forces Special Act or AFSPA from her state Manipur. She has all the grit to persuade government to repel a law that empowers security forces to arrest anyone without warrant and shoot at sight.

Prince William

The entire world waited for this fairytale royal wedding that attracted attention more than Facebook on April 29,2011. This was an insatiable media interest.

Lady Gaga

Lastly who can ever forget Lady Gaga, from Paris fashion show to President private parties, she was everywhere. Unlike her other contemporaries, she never seemed to take a day’s off.
